Acquired macular dermal hyperpigmentation: assessment and management

Amr Tahoun, Faisal R Ali

We suggest two practical refinements to Narayan et al.'s review of ADMH: that photoprotection advice should explicitly target UVA1 and visible light with a tinted, iron-oxide sunscreen in skin of colour, and that the inexpensive, widely available Wood's lamp deserves recognition for distinguishing treatable epidermal from dermal pigment. Together these enhance diagnosis and management, particularly in skin-of-colour and resource-limited settings.
