Accuracy of Digital Treatment Simulation for Deep Bite Correction with Clear Aligners: A Retrospective Within-Subject Comparative Study

Pham Thu Trang, Tran Cao Binh, Pham Thi Hong Thuy, Hoang Viet

Introduction: This study evaluated the predictive accuracy of ClinCheck® software for deep-bite correction with Invisalign® clear aligners. Methods: Thirty-one adult patients (≥18 years) who underwent dual-arch orthodontic treatment exclusively with Invisalign® between January 2020 and January 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. Digital models were obtained using an iTero® intraoral scanner. Overbite values at pretreatment, predicted posttreatment, and actual posttreatment stages were measured using Blender® software. Results: The analysis of variance test showed a significant difference between the study groups ( P < 0.001). Post-hoc tests showed significant differences for all pairwise comparisons ( P < 0.05). Actual posttreatment overbite correlated with predicted posttreatment (ClinCheck®) overbite ( r  = 0.657, P < 0.001). Conclusion: ClinCheck® significantly overestimated the final overbite correction compared with the actual clinical results.
