The aim of the research was to find a mortar that would achieve early strengths and setting time similar to CEM I‐based mortars with significantly lower carbon footprint at the same time. Two mineral additives of different chemical nature were used in the tests – fly ash and limestone powder. Both of them were applied in two different dosages. An alternative series of tests were also conducted, in which CSA cement (2 dosages) and calcium formate was added to mixtures of the same composition to accelerate setting. Ultrasonic measurements were conducted to characterize setting process of measured samples. The obtained results allow us to find the most promising composition in terms of early strength, setting time, and carbon footprint combined together.
