Absorption of ultrasound by a system of carriers in interaction with a strong electromagnetic wave

L. I. Glazman

The low-temperature coefficient of absorption of ultrasound by an isotropic (in the absence of external fields) electron-hole gas is calculated. The carriers are situated in the field of a strong light wave, which generates electron-hole pairs. In the case of linearly polarized light an absorption threshold exists with respect to the angle between the direction of sound propagation and the axis of the light-induced anisotropy. For circularly polarized light a threshold exists with respect to the angle and ultrasonic frequency.
