Absolute Negative Mobility of Inertial Active Ornstein–Uhlenbeck Particles in Media with Power-Law Correlated Noise

Shengna Liu, Kheder Suleiman

This study investigates the transport properties of inertial Active Ornstein–Uhlenbeck particles (AOUPs) in a one-dimensional rocking washboard potential externally imposed fractional Gaussian noise (fGn). Through numerical simulations, we explore how fGn in the potential influences particle mobility. Our findings reveal anomalous transport, including absolute negative mobility (ANM) at specific active intensity levels. The Hurst exponent significantly modulates ANM, with higher values of the Hurst exponent widening the ANM window by reducing the noise’s anti-persistence (all Hurst exponents studied here satisfy H≤1/2). These results provide new insights into the mechanisms governing anomalous transport in media with power-law correlated noise. Our findings have potential applications in microfluidics and active matter systems, enabling precise manipulation and separation of active particles.
