Abelson Virus Activity in Mice and Rats Neutralized With Anti-Rauscher Virus Serum

We confirmed the report that a preparation of Abelson virus used by Siegler's group induced hemolytic anemia and lymph node cysts in rats and bone marrow leukemias and thymomas in mice. We showed that the activities of Abelson virus-containing homogenates are neutralized with anti-Rauscher virus serum in both rats and mice. Our results indicate that all known activities of Abelson virus-containing homogenates depend on the presence of infectious leukemia virus of FMR type.
