A Wideband Circularly Polarized ME‐Dipole Antenna Array With Sequential Rotated Feeding and Arrangement Optimization
Mengxuan Ran, Xinyu Zhang, Mei ZhangABSTRACT
This letter proposed a wideband circularly polarized (CP) magnetoelectric‐dipole (ME‐dipole) antenna array for millimeter‐wave (mm‐wave) applications. The antenna element is composed of a pair of centrosymmetric bent stubs and metallic vias, fed by a microstrip‐coupled slot, and exhibits wideband CP performance. To further enhance the axial ratio (AR) performance, a sequential rotation feeding (SRF) scheme is adopted for array configuration. Meanwhile, by optimizing the arrangement among subarrays, a 4 × 4 antenna array is designed and fabricated. Measured results indicate that the prototype achieves an impedance bandwidth (IMBW) of over 52.1% (26.4–45 GHz) and an AR bandwidth (ARBW) of 47.21% (26.7–43.2 GHz), with the gain ranges from 13.2 to 17.2 dBic across the entire overlapping bandwidth. With wide operating bandwidth, stable gain, and high integration, the proposed antenna array is a promising candidate for the front ends of mm‐wave integrated communication and sensing systems.
