A Transient Boundary Element Framework for Pressure Buildup, Injectivity Enhancement, and Reactive Permeability Evolution During CO₂ Storage in Heterogeneous Carbonate Reservoirs

Mohamed Abdelsabour Fahmy
Background Reactive CO₂ injection couples multiphase flow, aqueous chemistry, mineral alteration and permeability changes. Methods This paper develops a transient subdomain boundary element formulation for a reduced single-fluid pressure-diffusion model with phenomenological pressure-activated permeability feedback, and specifies a physically based two-phase compositional reactive-transport extension and a finite-radius well coupling that remain to be implemented. Results Previously reported scenario outputs and tables are preserved as illustrative legacy calculations. They do not provide matched experimental calibration, reproducible convergence or mass-balance evidence, or uniquely defined physical well injectivity. Conclusions The original model illustrates pressure–property feedback but cannot support field-scale reactive CO₂ storage or injectivity forecasting without further coupled physics and numerical validation.
