A Three-Pronged Approach to Teacher Educator Learning: Toward Understanding Teacher Leadership

Ayanna D. Perry, Rosiane Lesperance-Goss

Abstract

This chapter presents concrete examples that illustrate our approach to teacher educator learning and its impact on supporting early career teacher leadership development. Our model—rooted in inquiry, professional learning, and dissemination—prioritizes teacher educator learning as an inclusive, collaborative, and adaptive practice, grounded in a commitment to equity and collective growth. Through iterative cycles of inquiry, we align our practices, goals, and programmatic resources to meet diverse teacher needs. Recognizing gaps in our understanding, we engage in ongoing professional learning, by drawing on current and seminal research, book studies, and peer collaboration. Dissemination is central to our work, enabling us to codify our learning within our organization and share our findings more broadly. Through dissemination, we contribute to the broader educational landscape, advocating for teacher voices and collaborative knowledge-building. This model of teacher educator learning emphasizes collective growth, reflective practice, and sustainable development inspiring transformative change across educational communities.
