Introduction:- Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM cause hearing impairment in about13.8- 36.2% of the people. Mainly people have conductive hearing loss. However, some people reported sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) do occur. The cause of SNHL can be through pus or infected tissue in middle ear which is concentrated at the round window thereby encouraging absorption through the round window leading to chemical contamination of the perilymph. To compare sensorineural hearing loss in Aim:- mucosal and squamous type of chronic suppurative otitis media. This is a observational study conducted in the Department Materials And Methods:- of Otorhinolaryngology in Saraswathi Institute Of Medical Science, Pilkhuwa. 30 cases of mucosal type CSOM and 30 cases of squamosal type CSOM in an age group of 10-50 years. A detailed history was taken from the patient and examined properly and each patient investigated with pure tone audiometry under the frequencies of 1 KHz, 2 KHz,3KHz and 4 KHz . SNHL develops as a sequel to both mucosal and squamous CSOM. Its incidence in Results: creases as the age of the patients increases. There is relation of age of the patients and different frequencies to the occurrence of SNHL but no relation with gender. The prevalence of SNHL was more in squamous CSOM and it was proved to be statistically signicant.
