A study of the formation of an artistic image in modern AI screen art using the example of Kelly Boesch's AI-art
Artemii Alekseevich Zaitsev, Andrei Mihailovich Agin, Aleksei Yakovlevich ZaitsevThe subject of this article is the process of artistic image formation and the specifics of visual language in modern screen art, considered on the basis of the work of AI-artist Kelly Boesch. The object of the research is audiovisual works created using artificial intelligence technologies. The author analyzes in detail the genre features and key themes of Kelly Boesch's work, examines her unique methodology and coloristic strategy. Special attention is paid to the paradoxical nature of her method and the mechanisms for maintaining copyright control. The article reveals how the artist defends her creative sovereignty and aestheticizes algorithmic rigidity, turning the technical limitations and errors of the neural network into an expressive means and an integral part of the artistic narrative. The research methodology is based on a comprehensive art historical analysis. Cultural-historical, semiotic, and formal-stylistic methods have been applied to study the artist's visual language. The main conclusion of the study: Boesch's work proves that generative AI does not replace the author, but transforms his role from a traditional artist into an architect of algorithmic concepts, where a person acts as the final filter and carrier of meanings. The author's special contribution to the research and the novelty of the work is the primary comprehensive analysis of the works of a modern creator experimenting with AI tools. The study also introduces the concept of "algorithm poetry" as an aesthetic phenomenon, where technological determinism paradoxically enhances the subjectivity of the author. The research results can be used to develop criteria for evaluating and selecting high-quality works created using neural networks. The proposed parameters for evaluating the neuro-artist's work can be used in educational programs and courses on digital art and AI design.
