A Study of Teachers’ Attitude Towards Smart Classroom at Secondary Level

Smart class provides a unique way of teaching because of its versatile nature. So, the purpose of present study is to explore the attitudes of teachers towards smart classroom at secondary level with specific reference to pedagogical efficiency of smart classroom, student engagement and technological competency of teachers. 30 teachers of three different schools of Cuttack district were selected as sample by adapting simple random sampling method. The descriptive survey method is used in this study. A five- point Likert scale and an open-ended questionnaire had been used for data collection. Descriptive statistics like percentage, mean, and standard deviation have been used to analyze quantitative data, and thematic analysis was used for analysis of responses from the open-ended questionnaire. The results showed that most of the teachers retain positive attitude towards smart classroom. Because teaching in smart classroom improves their pedagogical practices, boosts student engagement, and they feel confident using various smart classroom technologies while teaching. The study also identified various factors that are responsible for the positive outlook of teachers towards the smart classroom. Teachers also mentioned that an adequate training program and immediate technical assistance are highly necessary in order to ease the application of smart classroom technologies for them.
