Raw mixture compositions for obtaining alumina clinkers from Turkish and Guyanese bauxites with Hryhorivsky limestone (Novohryhorivske area, Mykolaiv region, Ukraine) were calculated using Kühl's formula, and physical‐mechanical properties were studied. The highest compressive strength was shown by type I cements based on Turkish and Guyanese bauxites. X‐ray phase analysis revealed calcium monoaluminate as the main clinker phase; gehlenite is also present due to quartz in the bauxites. The clinker from Turkish bauxite additionally contains brownmillerite from iron oxide binding (∼17wt. % Fe 2 O 3 in Turkish vs. ∼1.7 wt. % in Guyanese bauxite). Limestone North III with 51 wt. % CaO and ∼5 wt. % SiO 2 is identified as the most suitable for alumina cement production by sintering. The possibility of producing special alumina cements using raw materials and production capacities of the Mykolaiv region has been demonstrated.
