Elif Uğurlu

This study examines the functional and physical changes that the Ahi Evren Dede Mosque and Tomb have undergone, located in Boztepe, Trabzon, and evaluates the restitution data concerning the original state of the structure. The research encompasses the historical development of Trabzon and Boztepe, religious life in Trabzon, the concept of Akhism, the life of Ahi Evren Dede, Ottoman tekke architecture, the Qadiriyya Order and tekke architecture, as well as the current condition of the structure, issues of dating and function, and restitution evaluation. Information from the literature, an archival document, a historical map, photographs from different periods, architectural drawings, on-site assessments of the existing condition, and interviews were evaluated together. The findings indicate that the structure initially consisted of a tekke and a tomb and was later used as a mosque and tomb. It was determined that, as a result of the functional and physical changes undergone from its initial formation to the present day, the structure has significantly departed from its original plan and typology.
