A Response to Hellen Jordan on Osseointegrated Prosthetic Use in Animals

Frances Robinson

Abstract

Hellen Jordan raises some legitimate concerns about the use of osseointegrated prosthetic procedures in nonhuman animals. Her concerns include the lack of information available, the problem of pain, and the difficulties involved in making the right ethical decision on behalf of a nonhuman animal. I have critically examined her concerns and tried to shine some light on what may be required to address them.
