A Research for Islamic Finance’s Awareness Level and Willingness to Work with These Institutions in Türkiye

Bahan Yenilmez
This study aims to assess the knowledge and awareness of Islamic finance among households in Turkey, determine their willingness to engage with Islamic financial institutions, and explore the impact of demographic factors on these aspects. The analysis, using one-way ANOVA, t-tests, and LSD tests, shows that overall awareness of Islamic finance is low, with significant differences across certain groups. Demographic variables such as gender, age, occupation, education level, and health insurance influence individuals' attitudes towards Islamic finance and their willingness to work with these institutions. Specifically, men demonstrate more positive attitudes and higher willingness to engage with Islamic finance than women. Higher education levels are associated with increased knowledge and more favorable attitudes towards Islamic finance. Additionally, academic professions were found to improve awareness and willingness to engage with the sector. The findings indicate that while the potential for Islamic finance in Turkey is high, current awareness levels do not fully reflect this potential. It is suggested that better promotion of Islamic finance products and strengthened educational initiatives are necessary to enhance public awareness and interest.
