A Rare Presentation of Pure Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Urinary Bladder in a Young Adult

Pure squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the urinary bladder is uncommon in nonbilharzial regions and is typically diagnosed in older individuals. Its occurrence in young adults is rare and may delay clinical suspicion. A 25-year-old male patient presented with persistent painless gross hematuria for 3 months. Imaging revealed a calcified intravesical lesion associated with bilateral hydroureteronephrosis. Histopathological evaluation demonstrated well-differentiated pure SCC characterized by keratin pearl formation without evidence of urothelial differentiation. Radical cystectomy was recommended. Persistent hematuria requires thorough evaluation regardless of patient age. Although rare, bladder SCC can occur in young individuals and may present at an advanced stage.
