A new anthracene derivative TBPPA consisting of syn - and anti -isomers was synthesized and characterized by 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and HRMS. The compound shows a deep-blue emission with high fluorescence quantum yield and high thermal and electrochemical stabilities. The non-doped organic light-emitting diode with TBPPA as emitter was fabricated by vacuum thermal evaporation technology. This device exhibits a deep-blue emission at 428 nm with a CIE coordinate of (0.15, 0.07), and the electroluminescence spectra show little change with increasing luminance from 1 cd m −2 to 2000 cd m −2 . Moreover, the device achieved a low turn-on voltage of 3.2 V and a maximum external quantum efficiency of 3.55 %, and the efficiency roll-off at high luminance is relatively small.
