Wenbin Zhang, Honglong Ding, Zejin Xie, Yuxi Chen, Dianchu Li, Jianping YongAbstract:
The genus Selliguea Bory represents one kind of fern with significant pharmacological potential and is rich in diverse bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, phenylpropanoids, terpenoids, and steroids, which make it exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities, such as antioxidant, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, antifibrotic, anticancer, and postmenopausal osteoporosis- alleviating effects. However, the chemical constituents and biological activities of Selliguea Bory are yet to be systematically reviewed. Therefore, this review comprehensively summarizes the progress made over the past decade in the chemical components (50 reported compounds) and the biological activities of Selliguea Bory, providing a systematic scientific basis and highlighting future research directions for the further development of this genus.
