The need to build multistory parking in congested areas of cities presents new challenges regarding the estimation of the impact of these investments on the environment and neighboring buildings. The authors synthesize the data available in the official EU documentation and in the scientific literature and propose a method for calculating polluting gaseous emissions generated in multistory car parks. For the case study targeting the MB-UPT car park, a scheme with functional blocks was created, with elements that quantitatively and qualitatively influence the polluting gaseous emissions (CO, CO2, NMVOC, NOx, NH3) generated by the operation of the car park. The study considers a fleet of motor vehicles with characteristics like those of the motor vehicles in the car park in Timiș County. The calculation method was applied considering three operating scenarios with high-level emissions, estimated to be encountered in real operation. Considering the operating modes of the motor vehicles, emission factors and correction coefficients were chosen for the highest possible degree of confidence in the emission estimates. The results are presented graphically and in tabular form. From the analysis of the results, for each pollutant species analyzed, the relevant critical factor was determined in the context of the three scenarios. The method proposed by the authors allows for the quantitative determination of polluting gaseous emissions and easy identification of episodes and zones with high emissions.
