The Herbarium of the Korea National Arboretum (KH) houses one of the principal collections of plant type materials in Korea. This study is the first in a series documenting type and putative type materials housed at KH and covers pteridophytes, gymnosperms, and monocotyledons. We critically examined 154 sheets associated with 32 nomenclatural entries: 12 sheets representing seven pteridophyte entries, 11 sheets representing two gymnosperm entries, and 131 sheets representing 23 monocotyledonous entries. Type citations in the protologues were compared with specimen labels, accession data, annotations, and provenance records to assess type status in accordance with the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN). For each entry, we provide the protologue-based type citation, the material examined at KH, and relevant taxonomic, nomenclatural, or curatorial notes. The inventory identifies discrepancies in collecting numbers, dates, localities, repositories, and type annotations; clarifies cases of valid publication, legitimacy, typification, and orthographical correction; and distinguishes confirmed type material from putative material when the available evidence is inconclusive. Documented transfer histories showed that 103 sheets had been transferred to KH from six other repositories. The results demonstrate that repository and transfer histories are integral to the accurate interpretation and long-term traceability of type materials. This critically annotated inventory provides an evidentiary basis for type databases, inter-herbarium data exchanges, and subsequent taxonomic and nomenclatural research on Korean plants.
