Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a sensorimotor disorder characterized by an urge to move the legs with unpleasant sensations that worsen at rest and at night. We report a 65-year-old man with RLS who received combined Korean medicine treatment including Gyejibokryeong-hwan during tapering and discontinuation of ropinirole. The Korean International Restless Legs Scale score decreased from 27 to 14, and the Korean Restless Legs Syndrome Quality of Life Questionnaire score increased from 55 to 80. Leg discomfort temporarily worsened after dose reduction and the initial discontinuation attempt, requiring one additional dose of ropinirole. Thereafter, the patient received no further ropinirole from hospital day 24 through discharge. This case documents improvements in RLS severity and quality of life during combined Korean medicine treatment with concurrent tapering and discontinuation of ropinirole.
