A case of postnatally discovered, rapidly evolving congenital glioblastoma multiforme

This case describes a full-term male infant with a postnatal diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), after presenting with macrocephaly following delivery. Due to the size and location of the mass, in addition to the fact that the patient experienced significant bleeding after diagnostic biopsy, this patient was not a candidate for either surgical resection or chemotherapy. He experienced multiple complications, including refractory seizures and dysfunction of the hypothalamic–pituitary axis. His tumour exhibited rapid growth over the course of his short life. His care was redirected toward supportive or comfort care, and he died in the second month of life. Previous case reports have described this entity, but few have survived the initial neonatal period without intervention.
