34‐2: A dual‐focal‐plane augmented reality head‐up display using polarization multiplexing

The combination of augmented reality (AR) and head‐up display (HUD) makes HUD more and more attractive in recent years. In this paper, we propose a dual‐focal‐plane windshield‐type AR‐HUD prototype using a single freeform mirror, then fold the light path by polarization‐related elements to realize a compact volume using a single picture generation unit (PGU). The designed system meets the design specifications with experimental verification.
