Abstract:In recent years, the proportion of elderly population has been increasing, and the number of patients suffering from diseases such as colorectal cancer is also on the rise. The number of ostomy surgeries is increasing year by year, and there have been many cases of skin problems around the ostomy, which not only reduces the quality of life of patients but also increases medical expenses. Currently, although there are some methods for preventing and nursing these complications, a comprehensive and individualized program has not yet been formed, and there is insufficient support for patients' long-term self-care. This article aims to study how to build a comprehensive prevention and nursing program based on evidence-based practices, covering preoperative assessment to long-term follow-up, to reduce the occurrence of skin complications around the ostomy. After reviewing relevant literature and analyzing clinical practice, it was found that preoperative comprehensive skin assessment and determination of ostomy location, selection of ostomy products based on individual patient conditions, development of standardized step-by-step nursing procedures, and various forms of health guidance to help patients improve self-management ability are all core components of preventing complications. In addition, building a multi-faceted support system involving specialist nurses, patients, and family members can improve patients' willingness to cooperate with nursing care and long-term nursing outcomes.
