Abstract：Fostering virtue through education is the fundamental mission of university education. As an important carrier for the integrated development of the five forms of education, physical education contains abundant hidden ideological and political elements, serving as a crucial platform for implementing all-staff, whole-process and all-round education. As frontline practitioners of students’ ideological and political education, university counselors can break the limitations of didactic and fragmented traditional ideological and political education by tapping hidden ideological and political resources in sports activity scenarios, so as to realize immersive and regular education. From the perspective of fostering virtue through education, this paper defines the core connotation of hidden ideological and political elements in university sports activities, analyzes the practical dilemmas existing in counselors’ current exploration work, and explores scientific and feasible paths for exploration and educational practice from five dimensions: in-depth scenario exploration, content refinement, carrier innovation, evaluation empowerment and collaborative linkage. It aims to give full play to the educational value of physical education, promote the in-depth integration of ideological and political education and physical education in universities, and facilitate the all-round development and moral growth of college students.
