Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy of hand acupoint pressing therapy grounded in holographic theory for sleep disorders in individuals undergoing hemodialysis. Methods Sixty hemodialysis patients with sleep disturbances admitted between January and December 2025 were enrolled. Participants were randomly assigned to two groups: the control group (n=30) received standard nursing care, while the observation group (n=30) received standard care combined with holographic theory-based hand acupoint pressing therapy. Sleep onset latency and actual nighttime sleep duration were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Additionally, sleep quality and anxiety levels were assessed. Results Post-intervention, the observation group demonstrated significantly shorter sleep onset latency and longer actual nighttime sleep duration compared to the control group. Furthermore, total scores for sleep quality and anxiety were significantly lower in the observation group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Holographic theory-based hand acupoint pressing therapy for hemodialysis patients with sleep disorders can effectively reduce the time taken to fall asleep, extend actual nighttime sleep duration, improve overall sleep quality, and alleviate anxiety.
