从“再现现实”到“生成世界”——技术图像对艺术空间的三重重构(From “Reconstructing Reality” to “Generating Worlds: Threefold Reconstruction of Artistic Space by Technical Images”)

Abstract:Vilém Flusser's theory of technical images provides a new perspective for image studies. It emphasizes that technical images are creations rather than simple reproductions of reality, which fully affirms artists' imagination. Exploring how technical images in the digital age activate artists' imagination in the process of reconstructing the materiality of artistic space and the laws of perception has become a necessity in contemporary art discussions. In the current digital-intelligent era, technical images further exhibit characteristics of procedurality, interactivity and virtuality. By analyzing the specific application processes in virtual reality art, generative art, data visualization and other fields, this study finds that technical images, through algorithms, interfaces and media, elevate spatial art from fixed physical venues to a "programmable field of imagination", and realize the transformation from "representing reality" to "generating possible worlds". From this perspective, the transformation of time and space brought about by technical images gives birth to the technical philosophical premise that artistic imagination possesses surreality and openness; meanwhile, it forces art ontology and the boundaries of human perception to face redefinition.
