Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy of combining traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) characteristic fumigation and washing therapy with dietary nursing in the rehabilitation of patients following anal fistula surgery. Methods A total of 92 patients who had undergone anal fistula surgery at our hospital between December 2023 and January 2026 were enrolled and randomly assigned to two groups using a random number table; each group comprised 46 patients. The control group received conventional nursing care, while the study group received TCM characteristic fumigation and washing therapy combined with dietary nursing in addition to conventional care. The clinical outcomes were compared between the two groups. Results At various postoperative time points, the wound pain scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05 ); at postoperative days 3 and 5,the scores for wound edge edema and exudate production in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05 ); the wound healing time in the study group was shorter than that in the control group (P <0.05 ); and the incidence of postoperative complications was lower in the study group than in the control group (P <0.05 ). Conclusion The combination of TCM characteristic fumigation and washing therapy with dietary nursing can promote the resolution of perianal wound pain and edema in patients after anal fistula surgery, reduce wound exudation, prevent postoperative complications, and accelerate wound healing.
