Abstract：Objective To explore the effects of traditional Chinese medicine nursing in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Methods A total of 70 elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from our hospital were selected from July 2023 to July 2024 and randomly divided into two groups (JY group and FX group, 35 cases each) using the double-color ball method. The former received conventional nursing, while the latter received traditional Chinese medicine nursing. The differences in traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores, pulmonary function, nursing quality, and satisfaction between the JY group and FX group were compared. Results ① Traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores: Before nursing, P>0.05; after nursing, both groups showed FX<JY, with P < 0.05 in both cases; ② Pulmonary function: Before nursing, P > 0.05; after nursing, FX > JY in both cases, with P<0.05; ③ Nursing quality: FX group > JY group, P<0.05; ④ Satisfaction ( x2 =6.437): FX group (94.29% [33/35])>JY group (71.43% [25/35]), P<0.05. Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine nursing significantly improves the outcomes in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and is worthy of promotion and implementation.
