“三言”性别话语的叙事生成与审美表征(The Narrative Formation and Aesthetic Representation of Gender Discourse in Sanyan)

张梦晓 Mengxiao Zhang
Abstract:Sanyan is centered on urban love affairs, family disputes, and ethical conflicts. It is therefore an important text for examining gender relations in the late Ming dynasty, as well as the narrative and aesthetic features of vernacular fiction. The gender discourse in these works is shaped by the combined influence of traditional ritual ethics, Song-Ming Neo-Confucianism, and late Ming urban aesthetic taste. Female characters in Sanyan are constrained by the ethics of chastity and the family order, yet they also demonstrate a degree of female agency through emotional expression, intellectual ability, and active participation in the plot. An analysis of the cultural formation, narrative mechanisms, and aesthetic representations of gender discourse in Sanyan shows that female characters' destinies, story motifs, narrative judgments, spatial imagery, and conflicts between emotion and moral order together create tension between ethical discipline and human feeling.
