The strength properties of a foam based on a mixture of phenolic and urea-formaldehyde resins are described. The relationship between compressive strength, tensile strength, crack stability, shrinkage, impact strength, water absorption, heat conductivity, dielectric properties and other properties versus apparent density and moisture content, and external temperature are presented. A discussion of actual technical characteristics of foam and the main requirements for heat insulation of metal underground pipes is presented.
