Diamagnetic resonance in Pb1–xSnxTe

Yu. A. Bratashevskii, V. D. Prozorovskii, Yu. S. Khaionovskii

Diamagnetic resonance on a group of electrons with an anomalously weak anisotropy of effective mass (∼10–3m0) in specimens of n-Pb1–xSnx Te single crystals rich in tellurium vacancies was studied over the 1.6–3°K temperature range. There have been established a strong temperature dependence, with a negative temperature coefficient, and a commutation of the cyclotron line upon reversal of the magnetic field, the latter indicating a ferromagnetic ordering of the system and attributed to the presence of tellurium vacancies participating in indirect exchange with conduction electrons.
