“Anomalous” behavior of quantum oscillations of transport kinetic coefficients in the magnetic breakdown regime
VI. L. Ginzburg, A. A. SlutskinThe quantum magnetic breakdown oscillations of the static conductivity tensor and of the thermoelectric power in metals with specific “difference” periods, absent in the oscillations of thermodynamic properties, are considered. The treatment is based on the quantum kinetic equation under the assumption that the frequency of electron collisions with dislocations is much higher than the electron-impurity collision frequency, but much lower than the characteristic Larmor frequency. It is shown that a specific “interaction” exists between the “difference” harmonics and the giant magnetic breakdown oscillations of kinetic coefficients, leading to a significant enhancement of the “difference” harmonic amplitudes. The theory developed explains a number of recently observed experimental data.
