A minimum in the resistance of beryllium
Yu. N. Tszyan, A. G. OrdynetsThe temperature dependence of the resistance of single crystal beryllium specimens with widely varying impurity concentrations is studied in a longitudinal magnetic field over the temperature range 4.2–20 °K. It is demonstrated that the resistance changes nonmonotonically with temperature, and that application of a magnetic field of H∼10–20 kOe eliminates this anomalous resistance behavior. On the basis of the experimental data the preliminary conclusion is drawn that the observed resistance behavior is produced by magnetic impurities (the Kondo effect).
