The theory of groundwater flow quantifies the movement, storage and release of groundwater, including the mass of soluble and insoluble inorganic and organic matter, and heat, it carries, and is thus wide ranging in its application to groundwater studies and groundwater management in general. This section considers those aspects of the theory most encountered in engineering geology.
